To Cough or Not To Cough?

Here is my first spill at a blog!
For the last 2 weeks I have had a persistent cough that seemed to be getting worse! I have been feeling fine...well...except for the annoyance of multiple coughing fits! I HAVE BEEN LIVING ON COUGH DROPS! School and Work seem to have added, like weights, to this annoyance! Let's just say that I have learned to breathe at a minimum level...and cough drops! Last Sunday I took a very smart woman's advice(my mom's) and went to the store to purchase vitamin C tablet! I think that those plus the cough drops have helped a little. Although, I still reap the pleasure of a good coughing fit from time to time, at least now they don't wake me up at night! I'm pretty sure that I have an acute cough, which will last up to 3 weeks! I hope that by next week I am better, because I really don't want to go and see the good ol' Doc! On a brighter not, my abdominals are getting a fabulous workout! Yeah! For now I don't have to do sit-ups! Your all jealous...I know! I thought that the following was very interesting! A no brainer, but still interesting all the same!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COUGH

When a person coughs, there is a short intake of breath and the larynx (the voice box) closes momentarily. The abdominal and chest muscles used for breathing contract, which in turn increases the pressure needed to drive air out the lungs when the larynx re-opens. The resulting blast of air comes out at high speed, scrubbing and clearing the airway of dust, dirt or excessive secretions.
